INTRODUCING RYAN BEEBY
Pictured here is Ryan after his first solo flight in a Piper Warrior.
Ryan was awarded one of the four Mobil Aviation Flying Scholarships made available in 2010.
Ryan has a goal of achieving a PPL and at the time of applying for the Mobil scholarship had just commenced training in May 2010 through the Victorian Scout Air Activities Centre and held the appropriate medical certificate, student licence and ASIC clearance.
Ryan has completed three years at Monash University for a double degree of Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Engineering and is specialising in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering with majors in Physics and Mathematics.
Ryan is very active in Scouting and student activities at Monash.
As a resident of Cheltenham, Ryan has had plenty of opportunity to see aircraft moving around the area and has happy memories of his grandfather taking him to the airport and watching from the fence line all the activities of the airport as well as visiting the Moorabbin Airport Museum.
Ryan commenced training under the scholarship program in October and achieved his GFPT just before Christmas 2010, which is a great example of results achieved with plenty of preparation and regular lessons. Ryan had 17 training flights in December.
Ryan has had the privilege of exercising his new licence by taking his father and brother as his first passengers before heading of to the USA for a 3-month placement associated with his university studies.
